Heating Systems

Whether Oil, Natural gas or Lpg we provide a full
installation and breakdown service. Our comprehensive service
includes full system design, installation and commissioning.
The laws and rules with regard to central heating systems are
changing all the time, our engineers are constantly retraining
to keep up with the new state of the art high efficiency boilers
that are becoming available. All installation work that we carry
out uses the most efficient boilers and equipment possible.
The systems are always designed with performance, price and
customer requirements as the main priorities. Unlike many companies
our systems are fully flushed and chemically treated before
handing over to the customer. We do not want to make money out
of your boiler breaking down! We want our installations to give
you many years of trouble free use.

Did you know that from the very first day that
your central heating was commissioned its efficiency starts
to drop. It has been calculated that within a few months the
system can lose 10% of its efficiency. When copper pipe is exposed
to hot water a chemical reaction takes place that produces a
black substance called Magnetite. This circulates around the
central heating system and eventually settles in the radiators,
this seriously affects the performance of the system and can
in many cases lead to boiler failure. This can be very expensive
to repair. The diagram on the left gives a clearer picture of
the problems.
On new installations it will soon be the law that an inhibitor
is put into the system to stop this happening. But this will
not remedy the situation on old systems. Powerflushing is the
only guaranteed method to clean the system and restore it to
its original condition. In many cases people have replaced boilers
and carried costly work to central heating systems, which have
made little or no improvement in performance. We at TAPS can
come and check your system for you for a small fee of £25.
We will check the system for efficiency and whether any inhibitor
has been installed. The cost of the test would be deducted from
the cost of any remedial work we are asked to carry out. |

At Taps we offer four levels of Power Flush treatments. Listed
below are the different levels and the main differences between
them. We offer a service from basic system testing and maintenance,
up to and including a comprehensive system over haul. The costs
of our treatments are all inclusive of chemicals and labour
and materials. All prices are for systems up to and including
s maximum of 12 radiators. Remember if you have any questions

This is designed to check a system for conformity to the correct
levels of inhibitor. It will also check to see if the system
was correctly installed and set up. For annual checks on existing
and ‘Power Flushed ‘ systems the price includes
topping up of inhibitor. If the system is identified as being
in need of remedial work, if we are commissioned to carry out
the work we will give you a discount of £15 off the Power
Flush fee.

The economy Power Flush is designed for smaller central heating
systems where a low level of debris is found, and also where
usage is light. The system is Power Flushed as a whole, this
is normally done without removing any radiators. The whole process
normally takes about half a day.
This flush is for new installations only or
where a flush is required to validate sytem warranty.
Economy Power Flush Fee: £200 [These services are not available at this price in London, please ring for prices]
The standard Power Flush combines all of the features of the
‘economy’, but it also includes a visit to the premises
several days before the main Power Flush to add a powerful pre-cleaner
to the system. This breaks down stubborn scaling and debris
deposits. Once we are on site each radiator is flushed individually
as well flushing the system as a whole. It may also be necessary
to remove individual radiators. The whole process normally takes
a full day. The Power Flushing continues until the water in
the system is completely clear, at which point the inhibitor
is added and the system is restored to full working condition.
Standard Power Flush Fee: by prior arrangement only
The Deluxe Power Flush includes all the features of the standard
but also includes use of the far superior FX 2 chemicals which
spotlessly clean the inside of the system. Also at the end of
the Power Flush, the system is chemically balanced to make it
neutral with a PH of 7. As with all our Power Flush services,
the cost includes all the required chemicals and on site labour.
The Deluxe Power Flush typically takes a full day.
Deluxe Power Flush Fee: £350

Once you have completed any of our system flushes, your heating
should be much more efficient. From then on the system just
needs an annual check to maintain the level of inhibitor and
correct PH. From the day you Power Flush your system you start
to save money! Remember the worse your system is the better
the improvement!
Typically a complete Power Flush should improve your system
efficencey by about 10% on an average house fuel bill this means
that the full cost of the Power Flush should be recovered over
two to three years, and the risk of boiler break down severely
reduced! Remember that if you system is partially blocked with
debris it puts tremendous pressure on your boiler. With the
cost of a new boiler running at £1500 or more why take
the risk?

Pipe work

All of our technicians pride themselves on their
neat pipe work. Pipe work is always intrusive and looks even
more so when it has not been mounted neatly. All our work uses
a mixture of plastic and traditional copper work. Unless specifically
asked for, we always use copper pipe for exposed heating pipes
and plastic speed fit for hidden and difficult runs. This gives
the best combination of speed of installation, cost and appearance. |

Using state of the art pipe freezing techniques,
TAPS are experts in removing and replacing radiators. Individual
radiators can be removed in-situ often without the need to shutdown
the whole system. This minimises are ‘on site’ time
making the job cheaper for you. Using the latest equipment complete
systems can easily be quickly installed and serviced. |
Guttering

Not often thought of, as a traditional plumbing
skill, guttering is another critical layer of protection for
your house. 365 days a year 24hrs a day your home is under attack
from the elements. One of the biggest dangers is water. Within
a very short period of time a small amount of water can cause
an incredible amount of damage. One of the most important methods
of protection for your property is correctly installed and maintained
guttering. Just a small weep on a joint can put enough water
onto a wall to penetrate right through the wall and damage paintwork
and plaster. Before replacing any guttering our plumbers will
also make a care full inspection of all barge boards and woodwork
to make sure that the guttering will be securely fixed. |
